The Blood Gas and Electrolyte Research Department at Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, Switzerland develops and maintains devices that measure vital functions of critically ill patients. Among other use cases for monitoring of ventilation and other body functions in an intensive care unit, in the emergency room. There, the devices in the field had a pivotal role in the COVID-pandemic.

We are offering a unique chance to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to further improve the functionality of instruments by providing enhanced data handling capabilities and improving data handling workflows for R&D purposes. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated student/intern who supports us in improving our data processing workflows. You will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge in data processing/analysis techniques and tools, and contribute to real-world projects that make a difference in our everyday work. During your time with us, you will work alongside our young on-market squad supporting them by designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and data visualisation tools that enable us to make faster and more reliable decisions. During the internship in our dynamic, international team you will be responsible for the following:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop data solutions that meet their requirements

  • Build, improve and maintain data processing pipelines

  • Design and implement data models to support data analytics and reporting

  • Design and implement data analytics tools

  • Conduct quality assurance testing to ensure accuracy and completeness of data

  • Identify opportunities to improve data workflows and processes

Who you are

You have a background in computer science, data science, engineering, or a related field.

You are fluent in English written and spoken, with German as a plus, and you convince us and our collaborators with the following skills and competencies:

  • Experience with Python is required, Matlab is a plus

  • Software coding by commonly used best practices is required

  • Experience with databases (SQL, noSQL, etc.) is a big plus

  • Cooperatively work in a multidisciplinary and multinational team

  • Communicate needs and results in order to contribute to decisions

  • Prioritise subtasks on an individual level

Moreover, you are:

  • Enrolled as a student at a university or have finished your BSc or MSc degree within 6-12 months and are looking to expand your experience with an internship

  • Able to work in a team setting and in a multicultural environment

  • Creative, persistent, driven, self-critical, and eager to learn

  • Cooperatively work in a multidisciplinary and multinational team

  • Communicate needs and results in order to contribute to decisions

  • Prioritise subtasks on an individual level
